Moorfield Cottage is part of an old historic house which once belonged to the Gore Booth Estate. We, my husband Michael and I, have lived here for many years and we now let the holiday accommodation as a hobby/business. We are very happy to meet people and guide them to the wonders of this lovely part of Ireland. Sligo is not as well known as other more popular counties but it has matchless beaches, lakes, mountains, golf courses. Also Donegal is on our doorstep and within a day's drive one can explore Galway, Mayo and Leitrim.
The great poet W.B.Yeats wrote some of his most lyrical poems about this area and he is buried in the old graveyard at Drumcliffe (1 miles). His most famous poem, The Lake Isle Of Innisfree is based on the isle that can be seen on Lough Gill nearby and Glencar Waterfall is also near.
When you arrive at our house you enter by a tarmacadam drive and reach a large clear parking area and you enter by a flight of stone steps to the door which enters in to kitchen. All rooms are on first floor and the morning sun shines into all rooms. Beside kitchen is a carpeted sitting room with t.v. couch, armchairs, open fire (help yourself to logs from our log pile) There are dvds and The T.V is a combined player and there are books and games supplied. From kitchen there is a bright corridor and off it are 3 bedrooms with 2 double beds and 1 single (another bed available on request). All bedroms are carpeted freshly painted and have h/c washbasins, fitted wardrobes and bedside tables and lights. They overlook the gardens and are warm and comfortable. The large bathroom is at end of corridor and has a shower, toilet and washbasin. All towels and linen supplied at no extra cost. There is also oil fired central heating and this is included in rent as is electricity and gas for cooker.
