Cois Ba Self Catering Home comfortably sleeps 8 people.
Cois Bá means Bayside and that is literally where we are located, a stone's throw from the beach on Dundalk Bay. This newly refurbished cottage has 3 bedrooms, two double, one en suite, one twin, with extra beds available when necessary. There are 2 reception rooms, one with an open fire and one with a gas fire, TV, Video, DVD and Bar. The heart of the house is a charming country kitchen, fully equipped with all mod cons, fridge/freezer, washing machine/dryer, dish washer, microwave, etc. and a traditional Irish dresser.
The decor is bright and sunny with lots of pine wood. For some ,the favourite feature is the sun porch, an ideal spot to relax with a book and watch the ebb and flow of the tide, with small fishing boats bobbing up and down and ships passing in to Dundalk Port. Sunrise and sunset and moonlight on the bay are magical moments, not easily forgotten as the spirit is healed and peace is restored.
For the more energetic, the Cooley Peninsula and the Carlingford area provide a range of activities from hill walking to sailing, cycling to fishing, horseriding, mountain and water adventure sports, ice skating, swimming, horse and dog racing, birdwatching and of course golfing in one of the many nearby scenic golf courses.
There is a Heritage Centre in Carlingford and the whole area is steeped in myth and legends of Fionn Mac Cumhail and the Fianna and the Táin Bó Cuailgne, Ireland's epic story of Queen Maeve, Cuchulainn, Ferdia and the Brown Bull. The Táin Trail, a national cycling and walking trail ends up in Cooley. Ancient buriel sites can be found closeby and a visit the Shrine of St. Brigid in Faughart should not be missed. There is a feast of excellent eating places in the area and those in need of retail therapy will not be disappointed either in Dundalk or Newry nearby.
And at the end of the day, why not take a five minute stroll along the beach and refresh yourself with a pint in the local pub, the Blue Anchor. No need to worry about driving home, you're just over the road or the beach!
Cois Bá is a child friendly home with a cot and high chair for the baby and a large safe drive-in back yard for children to play in, while you relax on the patio among the flower pots or enjoy a meal on the gas barbeque. If you would like to go fishing a charter can be arranged.
